- U11 Results 2011
Thu 2nd June North U11 V West U11
Venue: Little Bardfield Village Cricket Club
Meet Time: 1:00pm for a 2:00pm start.
The team arrived at the ground with growing confidence after a decent performance against the South on Tuesday. After a warm up and a quick meeting to discuss how we was going to approach the game Oliver again lost the toss and we was put into bat.
Not such a good start to the game this week when Boomer (1) was out in the 4th over followed by Jay (10) in the 8th over. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals with everyone getting a start and then getting out. After 26 over’s the score was 96-6 with Matt Pike (22) and Joe Jenkins (4*) occupying the crease. Matt Pike went about hitting some excellent shots with Joe supporting him at the other end before Matt was bowled with the score on 123. Although only scoring 4 more runs than Tuesday it was worth a lot more on a wicket that was keeping low and very hard to score on.
With the team still buzzing from Matt’s and Joe’s partnership which got us up to a good total we set about our defence of the target. A good start from Matt Pike and Ronnie Ledwich meant after 6 overs the score was 15-0 with both bowling very well. After 14 over’s the score was 60-2 with the North going well and looking like they would reach the target with some ease. However some excellent bowling from Joe Jenkins (2wkts), Jessie Chorley (1), James Catton (1), James Webber (1) and a run out meant that we got ourselves back into the game with the score on 99-8 of 25 over’s. The ninth wicket fell on 117 and it looked like we may have a chance of winning the game. However Spence (3*) scored the winning runs for the North in the 32nd over.
The team although disappointed realised they had played a very good side and almost ended up winning. A great perforamce by the team and it looks as though we are learning from our mistakes and becoming more competitive and we are looking forward to our games against the Met and Central in the summer holidays.
MOM; Matt Pike with a great all rounder performance.

Tue 31st May South U11 V West U11
Venue: Wickford Cricket Club, Patmore Memorial Sports Ground
Meet Time: 1:00pm for a 2:00pm start.
The U11’s started the season away against a good South Essex side. Oliver Patmore was made captain and his first duty was to try and win the toss and bowl first. However we lost the toss and were put into bat by their captain.
Boomer Entwistle (10) and Oliver Patmore (31) got us off to a good start and after 8 over’s the score was 27-0 before Boomer was bowled in the 9th over. We continued to score at a good pace with all batsmen chipping in and after 25 over’s the score was 89-2 with 10 over’s still remaining. We only scored 30 runs in the last 10 over’s which was mainly due to some excellent bowling. James Webber (21) and Jay Lowles (17*) were the other players to make double figures. We finished on 119-8 with 3 wkts falling in the last over.
After agreeing that we had probably not scored enough on a good wicket the team knew we was going to have to bowl well to win the game. The first over we had the best possible start when Matt Pike took a wicket with his fourth ball. However after that Farrington (57) and Baker (27) went on to make 105 run partnership to effectively win the game for the South.
A decent team performance for there first game together and a lot of lessons learnt which we will take into the remaining games.
MOM; Oliver Patmore captained the team well and scored 31 before being run out.
